Join AWIM and Kia Georgia in Columbus for the 13th annual SAE International AWIM JetToy Competition at the Columbus Convention & Trade Center !


In-person volunteers are needed:

Wednesday, February 25, 2026 anytime between 9:00am – 3:00pm for setup (approximately 5-10 volunteers needed)

Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 8:30am - 2:00pm for judging. (approximately 40-50 volunteers needed)


This competition is for 5th graders from five school districts in Georgia and Alabama. In this competition, students race balloon-powered vehicles for time, distance, and accuracy across a 10m x 3m track. Complete instructions and materials will be provided by AWIM staff onsite. A 60-minute virtual training will also be offered for judges prior to the competition.

SAE's award-winning A World In Motion® AWIM® program is an inquiry-based, hands-on learning experience that brings STEM concepts to life, providing students with knowledge and skills to help them succeed in future education, careers, and life. Starting with the youngest learners, from preschool through 12th grade, AWIM combines practical, experiential learning with mentorship from industry volunteers and ongoing training and support for educators to ignite STEM potential.
