Description

The SAE Active Safety ADAS Sensor Calibration Task Force was established to support advanced vehicle safety system methodologies. This new task force will report to the SAE Active Safety Committee.

The goal of the Active Safety ADAS Sensor Calibration Task Force is to develop overall improvements to existing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensor field calibration procedures to realize the following benefits to the repair/aftersales segments of the industry:

Reduction of workshop space requirements to more practical sizes
Consolidation of static calibration targeting configurations and set up requirements
Consolidation of when calibration procedures are required
Relaxation of criteria for dynamic calibration driving procedures
Accommodation for aftermarket-modified vehicles
Procedures to verify calibration was successful

This task force will develop new ADAS sensor field calibration procedures which benefit the industry while upholding high standards for accuracy and precision, and consumer safety. Each sensor system related to ADAS has unique challenges and will need to be addressed individually to achieve overall goals.

Systems include:

Forward Facing Camera(s) Static Calibrations - Visual static pattern type targets
Forward facing Radar(s) Static calibration - Reflective targets
Side/Rear facing Radar(s) Static calibration - Reflective targets
Lidar Static calibrations - Object Target(s)
360 view Camera calibration - Pattern Target(s) or floor marking
Aftermarket-Modified Vehicle Procedures/requirements to reconfigure vehicle/calibration

We are looking for individuals with OEM and Tier One supplier background working with ADAS sensor design, installation and repair procedures.
