Description

Are you interested in classic and historic vehicles and want to take part in telling their story? If so, the SAE History of Ground Vehicle Systems Committee is looking for volunteers to broaden its membership.

The SAE History of Ground Vehicle Systems Committee is developing documents at the vehicle system/subsystem level that include design chronology and the evolution of supporting SAE standards. It is to operate as the “bridge” between SAE historical standards and the automobile designs they shaped, serve as the central resource for inquiries from primary audience groups, and develop educational materials when/where appropriate.

The committee intends on leveraging active SAE committee experts to capture maximum depth/breath of knowledge. It will also utilize SAE archives to ensure precise capture of dates, standards content, and historical details and engage OEMs for the purpose of confirming conclusions and providing additional detail.

The committee welcomes SAE members and automotive industry professionals, the automobile collector community, academic institutions, and public and private historical organizations (e.g. museums) among others.
